Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras
The Yoga Sutras are compiled from teachings passed on from Guru to Disciple in the ancient oral tradition of India. Su – means to thread or sew together, Tra – in order to transcend. The sutras thread together the pearls of ancient wisdom creating a necklace, rosary or mala where the first bead is also the last. The Yoga Sutras are a practice and a way of life…a study of ourselves, the deepest psychology that addresses the symptoms as well as the roots and origins of life’s conflicts.
They are considered scientific in their systematic approach to realizing our oneness with all of creation…with ourselves, humanity, God and the universe. …Rama Jyoti Vernon
